That’s a wrap on Week 1!  Let’s get ready for another week of football.  Thank you to all fans that came out to support all three of our teams.  Despite the heat and humidity, the Freshmen game last Thursday was Standing Room Only!  Fans jam-packed the visitor side for Friday Night Lights at ODAC against Olathe North and there was a great showing Monday night at ODAC to watch JV close out our “three-game series” against ON.  Our players really feed off our support in the stands!

Here’s what we have to look forward to this week:

Day                 Date               Squad            Opponent                 Location                    Time

Thursday        09.12.19          Freshman       Lawrence Free St     Lawrence Free St      415pm

Congratulations to Our Players of the Week!

Please join the Booster Club in congratulating the following players:

Player of the Week presented by Community America Credit Union

Jordin Epting was selected as the Player of the Week following his Friday night performance which included a Pick-6 early in the game and his outstanding play on special teams and on offense.

Zaxby’s Freshmen of the Week

Congratulations to Jackson House, the Zaxby’s Freshmen of the Week!

Jackson rushed for a TD in his Freshmen debut and had several long runs.  On defense, he had a sack and several tackles.  Despite the heat and humidity, he played both sides of the ball for most of the game!

Scout Team Player of the Week

Congratulations to Noah Amundson who has earned the Scout Team Player of the Week honor.  Noah was selected by Coach Owen for the level of effort he gave "giving our Varsity guys a great look on both the scout team Offense & Defense."

Varsity Season Home Opener

Let’s fill the stands this Friday night when our Hawks take on Lawrence Free State at CBAC!  With home games comes some additional responsibilities for the Booster Club.

First, the SOPHOMORE CLASS is responsible for selling programs for the home games.  Christy Anderson (Nate’s mom) has been my savior and is helping organize the volunteers to sell programs.  I know she can use 3 or 4 more people this Friday to help sell.  Please send her an email ( ASAP if you are willing to do so.  We only have three home games this year, and a pretty large sophomore class, so hopefully enough people can volunteer some time over those three home games.  Volunteers should plan to arrive about 30 minutes before the game to start selling programs. Volunteers should continue selling programs in the stands through the first quarter.  Each (home side only) entrance should have at least two “sellers” and at least two “sellers” should walk the stands.

Second, the FRESHMEN CLASS is responsible for running the concessions at the first home game only.  If you haven’t seen it already, a sign-up genius was created for help that evening.  Please click on the link below to sign up for a time slot.  All net proceeds from sales that evening go to the Booster Club.  Last year, we raised over $2,200!  It’s a great opportunity to meet other families from the team, have some fun and support the booster club.

Booster Club Website

Our Booster Club website has been “relaunched!”  Please go out to the web and take a look:

We are going to do our best to keep it updated throughout the season.  If you have any ideas or if you have “mad web skillz” and would be willing to help keep it updated and create new content, please let me know.

Pittsburg High School Game Booster Club Tailgate

As I mentioned last week, someone has offered to sponsor a BBQ tailgate for the Booster Club down at the Pittsburg game if we had enough interest of people traveling down for the Varsity game on Friday, October 18th.  If you have not had a chance to respond to the “I’m interested RSVP” link below, please do so this week!  Some additional clarification, everything except drinks will be covered, so we won’t be doing a Sign-Up Genius for the tailgate.

Sponsor Corner

Please be sure to keep our sponsors in mind when going out in the community.  Without them, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do every week and throughout the year for the team.  When you stop in, please be sure to tell the manager on duty that you appreciate their support of the Hawks!

Car Decals

If you haven’t picked up your car decal yet, I will (try to remember to) bring them to the game on Friday night.  Find me in the stands and grab your car decal.  I do have some extra available for $5 each if you want one for your other car(s).  I’ll also (try to remember to) bring them with me and they will be available first come, first serve basis.
