Now that the regular season home games are complete, our Varsity Hawks hit the road for the remainder of the schedule. Hope to see everyone at the upcoming away games if you can make it out there! With Varsity on the road, the Freshmen get an opportunity to play their final three home games at Olathe East. If you haven’t had a chance, get on out to one of their games. They are an exciting group of players to watch! The future looks bright for the Hawks!!!!!!

A HUGE “Thank you” to Christy Anderson for organizing, and everyone who helped sell programs at the home games this season. The program is an integral part of our fundraising every year. The ads in the program bring in over $10,000 in cash/cash equivalents in the form of trades of things like the weekly team meals and other services we provide to the boys.
Next year, I expect we’ll be back to having the usual four home games and will be looking to the incoming SOPHOMORE class to once again take responsibility for the program sales.
If you did not get a program and would like a copy, or if you want extra copies, I do have extras. I will not be dragging all of them around with me, but can easily bring one if someone needs one. Just shoot me a text or an email and I’ll make sure you get a copy.
October 18th Game – Pittsburg Dragons
Plans are still coming together for the Pitt trip – for both the players and the Booster BBQ. I have a call with the Pitt AD and Dr. Stoppel tomorrow and hope to work through some of the details and will let everyone know when they firm up. Coach will let the players know their schedule and I’ll let the parents know about the BBQ and soon as I get times and location locked down.
Thanks to everyone who came out to Chipotle night on Monday. When I was in there, the line was to the door and getting longer as I picked up my order and left. This is one of the better restaurant fundraisers as we get 33% of the sales, when most other places only provide 10%.
Rival Week – OLATHE SOUTH Week – Oct 21 - 25
That entire week, the Zaxby’s on Strang Line will be running a “Rivals Challenge” between us and Olathe South and for that whole week, whoever drops the most receipts into their respective team’s helmet in the store will win $250 for the school’s athletic department and everyone in the winning school with a school ID will win a free chicken sandwich. On Tuesday, October 22nd, we’ll have a special Olathe East night and try to get as many OE there as possible to “stuff the ballot box.” Please have Tuesday, October 22nd on your calendar to join us at Zaxby’s for dinner that night!
I have some extra gift cards and free meal coupons left over from some of our sponsors, so like last year, I plan to have some player trivia challenges over Twitter on some evenings during the week leading up the big game. I have some good gift cards as prizes, so the questions could be a little bit tougher than last year. They will all have a similar “southern” theme……
Congratulations to Our Players of the Week!
Please join the Booster Club in congratulating the following players:
Player of the Week presented by Community America Credit Union
Congratulations to Myles McClellan, this week's OE Hawk's Player of the Week presented by Community America Credit Union. The entire Offensive Line controlled the trenches in Friday night's victory over Shawnee Mission North. Myles, our Varsity starting Center, graded out the highest among the offensive linemen, who had their best game all season.
Zaxby’s Freshmen of the Week
Congrats to Seth Miller, Olathe East Hawks' Zaxby's Freshmen of the Week. Seth was selected by the coaches for his two big interceptions along with some big tackles in the win over Shawnee Mission North. Seth has done a great job all season. You don’t throw on “Seth Island”!
Scout Team Player of the Week
Congratulations to Junior Orji for being named the Olathe East Hawk's Scout Team Player of the Week! Junior's hard work as scout team RB gave the defense the preparation needed for the team's performance on Friday! Congrats, Junior!
Please be sure to keep our sponsors in mind when going out in the community. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do every week and throughout the year for the team. When you stop in, please be sure to tell the manager on duty that you appreciate their support of the Hawks!
